Director of Development
Build and lead the Society's fundraising program across major gifts, foundations and sponsorship, connecting technology philanthropists with the scientific community working on general intelligence.
What you'll do
- Design and run the Society's development strategy across major gifts, foundation grants, corporate and AGI Conference sponsorship.
- Cultivate, solicit and steward relationships with technology philanthropists, family offices and foundations.
- Bring an active pipeline of prospects aligned with AI, science and technology philanthropy.
- Write proposals, case statements and donor reports with the Board and leadership.
- Set up the donor records, gift acknowledgment and reporting practices a growing 501(c)(3) needs.
- Advise the Board on fundraising priorities, targets and ethical gift acceptance.
What we're looking for
- 15+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
- A track record of raising millions of dollars, including closing multi-million-dollar gifts.
- An active network among technology philanthropists, foundations and family offices.
- Comfort building a program from zero in a volunteer-led organization.
- Familiarity with professional fundraising ethics and donor-privacy standards.
Terms
- Remote, anywhere in the world.
- Hours are fully flexible. Work when and as much as suits you.
- Volunteer to start. The Society has no funding yet; we intend to create paid positions as funding allows.
- Healthcare and other benefits will be offered as far as the Society can afford them once funded.
